FIRST AID CENTRES

Qualified First Aid Attendants operate the College First Aid Centres and are certified to assess and treat minor injuries and illness.

Transportation will be provided to the nearest Medical Walk-In Centre or Hospital Emergency Department for our students, staff or visitors when treatment by a health care professional is necessary.

The Emergency Medical Services at 911 are requested for all serious or life threatening circumstances.

Please Note:

All student, staff or visitor accidents and injuries must be reported to the First Aid Centre or Campus Security. To get more information please see Accident Reporting below.

ACCIDENT REPORTING

All student, staff, or visitor accidents and injuries must be reported to your nearest campus First Aid Centre or Security office. Please download and complete the SUPERVISOR’S ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION REPORT FORM (Excel file). The report MUST be returned to the First Aid Centre within 24 HOURS. For more information, please see the First Aid Centres.

 (i) In-Class Student Accident
The Professor/Instructor is responsible for completing and returning the Supervisor’s Accident Investigation Report to the First Aid Centre.

(ii) Out-of-Class Student Accident
The Campus Manager is responsible for completing and returning the Supervisor’s Accident Investigation Report to the First Aid Centre.

(iii) Staff Accident
The staff member’s direct Supervisor/Manager is responsible for completing and returning the Supervisor’s Accident Investigation Report to the First Aid Centre.

(iv) Visitor Accident (includes external contractors)
The Campus Manager is responsible for completing and returning the Supervisor’s Accident Investigation Report to the First Aid Centre.

STUDENTS ON WORK PLACEMENT WHO HAVE A WORK RELATED ILLNESS OR ACCIDENT INCLUDING NEEDLE STICK INJURY

WORKPLACE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INFORMATION SYSTEM (WHMIS) (NEW)

R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 860, as amended O. Reg. 36/93 WHMIS training is an annual requirement for employees that work with chemicals.  Employees who do not work with chemicals must complete WHMIS training every three (3) years. 

WHMIS training is provided throughout the year at both the Casa Loma and St. James campuses.  The interactive computer based safety training program is available to employees through the Health & Safety Department.
