Procedure for Accessing the College's Wireless Network Using a Mac

Notes:These instructions were developed using Mac OS X 10.5.5 and may not apply to your operating system version or hardware configuration.
The College does not support Macs.
The screen images shown here are examples. Your displays may vary, depending how your laptop has been configured.
  1. Click  on  the  wireless  icon  located  at  the  top  right  hand  corner of the screen.

  1. A drop-down box is displayed.
    Select Join Other Network.

  1. A network dialog box is displayed.
    Click on the Show Networks button in the bottom left-hand corner of the box.

  1. A Network dialog box is displayed.

    1. Select GBC.
    2. Enter your network User ID in the User Name field.
    3. Enter your network password in the Password field.
      Leave the 802.1X drop-down box set to Automatic.
    4. Click the Join button.

    An FAQ is available for help with User ID and password issues.

  1. If a Verify Certificate dialog box is displayed, click the Continue button and proceed to the next step
    (more than one Verify Certificate box may be displayed).

    Otherwise, proceed to the last step.

  1. An Authentication dialog box is displayed.

    1. Enter your network User ID is the User Name field.
    2. Enter your network password in the Password field.
    3. Ensure the Only use this password once checkbox is selected.
    4. Click OK.

  1. You should now be connected to the College's network.

    If you have not been authenticated you may have a technical issue with your laptop.
    The College does not support Macs, but you may want to begin your troubleshooting by
    clicking on the wireless icon, selecting Open Network Preferences, and viewing the network status.
