A Cook apprenticeship is a great way to go if you want hands-on learning, lots of flexibility and the freedom to earn while you learn!

George Brown College Cook Apprentice basic program will teach you the real skills and techniques you need to prepare excellent food in any quantity. After a year of on-the-job training, the advanced program will develop and expand your skills into areas like:

  • à la carte food preparation
  • pastry and desserts
  • contemporary cuisine
  • kitchen management

You have the flexibility to choose whether you want to study full-time or part-time, which leaves you free to work at the same time you are studying. You can do each program in 14 weeks full-time, or 30 weeks part-time.

By starting out as an apprentice, you’ll be well on your way to an exciting and rewarding career as a chef or a cook. Apprentices can earn official Red Seal certification as a Cook from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities by completing on-the-job and classroom training under the sponsorship of a registered employer.
