Student success in college requires well developed learning skills and attitudes (such as being able to work independently,
participate in a team, be well-organized, develop good work habits, and show initiative). These skills are as important as prior academic
achievement. Applicants should have thoroughly developed these skills and attitudes before beginning their college programs.

OUR PROGRAM
Are you passionate about wine, beer and other types of beverages? Do you dream of becoming the kind of expert who can pair food and beverages for the
most discerning customer, or find the perfect wine for any menu or special event? If so, this program can help you realize your dream.
This unique Advanced Wines and Beverage
Management program at George Brown College is designed and supported by leading wine and beverage experts from some of the industry’s
finest restaurants and hotels. It will give you all the key skills and knowledge you need to pursue a rewarding career in wine and beverage
management. And you won’t
be spending all your time in a classroom. You will take a journey of discovery with an overseas study tour where you will:
- discover regional growing areas and wineries
- take part in wine tastings to build your knowledge of wine characteristics
- learn about marketing processes

Best of all, you’ll earn valuable industry-recognized wine accreditation from the Wine Spirit Education Trust® for the Intermediate and Advanced
Wine courses. This program will expand your knowledge of:
- viniculture and viticulture
- regional grape varieties
- tasting techniques
- the production and management of beverages for special menus
- food service concepts
- special events
PART-TIME STUDY OPTIONS
George Brown Continuing Education offers a variety of courses in Wine, Beer and Bar Beverages including a Wine, Beer and Spirits Appreciation certificate,

*You have the opportunity to take the Wine Spirit Education Trust® (WSET®) Intermediate exam for approximately $300 per student. This fee will
cover the WSET® Intermediate level textbook, map package and exam. This is a world recognized accreditation. Your enrolment for the WSET® exam
is due the first week after midterm. If you choose not to write the WSET® exam, you will take the exam provided by George Brown College. Although
the content of the GBC exam will be similar, you will NOT receive the WSET® accreditation.
