Target
Haiti ,
March 3, 2010
|

A group of Dean’s Recognition students from the Centre for Hospitality & Culinary
Arts at George Brown College have decided to get together and organize a large fundraising event for Haiti. They have partnered
with Free the Children and 100% of their proceeds are going to the immediate and long term relief of Haiti and
rebuilding its infrastructure, schools, etc.
Free The Children has a 10-year history of working in Haiti. They've built nine schools in that time, all of which thankfully survived
the earthquake. They have maintained strong ties with those communities as well as locally-based grassroots organizations. Though Free
The Children specializes in long-term community development, they are giving their support to partners on the ground to get emergency
relief to Haiti’s people as fast as possible.
The event is called Target Haiti and is on Wednesday March 3, 2010 from 6:30pm-10pm at XS Nightclub
(261 Richmond St W, Toronto, ON). Their goal is to raise $10,000 and sell 500 tickets to their event. Early bird tickets cost $20 until
February 19, 2010, after February 19 they cost $25 and $35 at the door. There will be multiple types of entertainment including magicians,
jugglers, singers, bands, dancers etc and of course a huge silent auction!
Tickets can be purchases online at http://www.eventsbot.com/events/eb091656936 or
in the Atrium of the Hospitality Building, or in front of the Student Lounge at St. James campus on Monday February 8- Wednesday February
10 from 7:30am-1pm.
They will also be selling Target Haiti purse hooks for only $10 each the week of February 15, 2010!
If you are interested in purchasing a purse hook or ticket you may also contact Trisha Ewens at tewens@georgebrown.ca .
