Meeting the real world needs of today’s students and employers

For more than 22,000 full-time students who attend each year, George Brown College represents the path that will take them where they want to go.

One of Canada’s largest, most diversified colleges, George Brown College welcomes everyone regardless of their age, ethnic background, sex, and academic experience and goals.

Since 1967, it has been our goal to make the transition from classroom to workplace as seamless as possible. Our campuses are built right into the city of Toronto, Ontario allowing students to experience life in a wider world. Classrooms are just steps away from companies offering job placements and future employment.

We work closely with community employers to understand their needs and evolve our programs to equip students with the skills that today’s companies demand. Many of our programs include work or field placement to provide real world practice. Research shows that nine out of 10 George Brown College graduates get jobs within just six months of graduation.

The College has two main campuses in downtown Toronto at Casa Loma and St. James, along with 10 training facilities. We offer 157 full-time programs, and 1,600 continuing education courses. Students can choose from diplomas, degrees and certificates.

No matter what programs students are interested in, once they’ve been to George Brown College they can see their future because they’ve been given the means to make it in the real world.

KNOWLEDGE GARDENS at George Brown College

George Brown College is always looking for innovative ways to engage students in their education and keep them on the leading edge of learning. At the very foundation of this approach  is the creation of KNOWLEDGE GARDENS across our campuses. These interactive labs will be the incubator for the future of teaching and learning at George Brown.  Selected individuals from the college community will be sharing best practices in the most current learning and delivery options in order to imagine and develop the next advancement.  The latest educational methods will then be tested to both engage students and evaluate effectiveness, including integration of online tools and resources, social media and optimal collaborative methods. These new solutions will enable students to better solve problems together, develop new ideas and improve their innovation literacy. KNOWLEDGE GARDENS are fertile environments where George Brown staff harvest great ideas in the service of higher learning.
