GRADUATION
INFORMATION
Graduation Eligibility
Academic
In order to graduate in the current convocation ceremonies, you must complete all your program requirements by the end of the Winter semester of that year. Example, to attend the 2011 convocation, you must complete your program by April 21/11.
If your winter semester program extends beyond the published semester end date , and we are unable to determine your eligibility for this convocation, you may not be graduating in the current ceremonies. Please check with your academic division office if you fall into this category.
Note: If you are completing your program requirements in the Spring/Summer semester, you will be graduating with the next year’s convocation class.
Administrative
All students are required to clear outstanding fees, fines, book & equipment loans, before graduating. In order for us to process your information and deem you eligible to graduate for the convocation ceremonies, your records must be in good standing by the deadline date indicated on the Important dates for graduates .
Please check STUVIEW if unsure if you have a hold that will prevent you from graduating.
Name & Address
Name
- Verify your name on our Student Information system. That is the name that will appear on your credential, transcript and in the convocation program. To view your name, go to STUVIEW at http://stuview.georgebrown.ca/
- If you notice a discrepancy, go to your campus service centre to get the problem rectified.
- Take proper identification, example, a student card.
- If you had a change of name, you will also require one of the following: birth certificate, marriage certificate or other applicable official documents.
Address
- Check STUVIEW to ensure that your address is correct. Your address must be current in order to receive information from the College.
- You can update your address on STUVIEW or by completing the student action form and dropping it off at your campus service centre or academic office.
E-Mail
When possible, we will correspond with you through e-mail. Please check your George Brown e-mail on a regular basis.
Application to Graduate
http://www.georgebrown.ca/convocation/online_gradapp.aspx
If you are a full time Post secondary or Apprentice student and registered in the final semester of your program, you do not need to complete an application to graduate. Your information will be processed.
If you are a fulltime student but you are registered in a semester other than the final semester of your program, you must submit an application because we will not know that you are eligible to graduate.
Part time post secondary students must apply to graduate, as we will not be able to determine when you will complete your program.
Reservation to Attend Ceremonies
Please check the Important dates for Graduates to determine when the RSVP will be open.
If you are planning to attend the convocation ceremony you must RSVP by the dates published in the Important Dates for Graduates document. This is applicable to all students (full-time & part-time) who plan to attend.
You can RSVP even if you are unsure that you are graduating. You should not wait until you receive your final grades.
Please note that tickets to attend convocation will only be issued to confirmed graduates who RSVP.
Note: RSVP’s will not be accepted after the published deadline.
If you are not planning to attend the ceremony, you do not need to advise us.
Tickets
Guest tickets will be issued according to the number of graduates we expect for each ceremony. In most cases four guest tickets will be issued unless we indicate otherwise.
Tickets will be mailed according to the Important dates for Graduates and will be sent to the most current address that we have on file. Please allow a few days for delivery.
Please ensure that you and your guests bring the tickets to the ceremony, as you will not be allowed to enter the venue without tickets.
Additional guest tickets are not guaranteed and will only be made available if we have the space to accommodate your guests. Tickets will be issued in-person on a first-come, first-served basis and there is a maximum of two additional tickets. Please see Important Dates For Graduates for dates when tickets are available.
Please note: Pick-up of additional guest tickets is now closed.
