basis while enjoying a balance of theory and real-world practice.

Full-time diploma, degree and certificate programs
Early Childhood Leadership (Bachelor’s degree) C300
This four-year George Brown degree program will prepare you to design and guide curriculum in Ontario’s early childhood settings.
Early Childhood Education (Consecutive diploma/degree) C118
This four-year joint program with Ryerson University offers many distinct advantages including the ability for you to graduate with both an early childhood education diploma from George Brown and Bachelor of Arts degree from Ryerson.
Early Childhood Education (Diploma) C100
Through unique rotating blocks of theory and practice, this two-year diploma will give you the skills to work with children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age.
Early Childhood Assistant (Certificate) C105
This one-year program will prepare you to work as an assistant with young children aged 6 weeks to 10 years in a variety of early childhood settings.
Admission requirements
Entry to Early Childhood Education diploma and certificate programs requires that you have:
- An Ontario Secondary School diploma. If you are over 19, and without this prerequisite, you may apply as a mature student
- A satisfactory medical examination,
- Participation in a mandatory information session
- Completion of the Early Childhood Education questionnaire
Advanced standing
Do you already have a university degree in the social sciences or humanities and some work experience in childcare? You may be able to enter the second year of the Early Childhood Education diploma program.
Have you graduated from the Early Childhood Assistant certificate program? You could be eligible to enter the second year of the Early Childhood Education program with advanced standing.
Do you have a college community service diploma? You may be eligible for direct entry into the second year.
If you fit any of the above scenarios, you may be required to attend a two-week course in June as part of the conditions of your advanced standing status.
Prior learning
If you have spent some time in college, you may be eligible to apply some of your previous learning toward courses in your early childhood education diploma or degree. To be considered college level, learning should:
- Include an understanding of both theory and practice
- Be useful in a variety of settings, not just in the particular place it was acquired
- Meet the learning outcomes of a particular course or courses taught in the Early Childhood Education program (see student handbook for further details)
Part-time, continuing education and professional development programs
Early Childhood Education Diploma
Take three courses per semester, along with your field placements in six-week blocks, and graduate with an early childhood education diploma
within three to five years.
Daycare Early Childhood Management Certificate (Post Diploma Certificate)
If you already have an early childhood education diploma and are interested in a leadership position in any number early childhood
educational centres, this six-course certificate is for you.
Access to the Early Childhood Education Field in Ontario
This bridging program provides internationally educated childcare educators with the training to transfer their childcare degree to an Ontario

Advanced Special Needs Training for Early Childhood Educators
George Brown College and the Creche Child and Family Centre present a joint course for
supervisors and early childhood education workers. The focus is on the specialized skills you will need in working with pre-school children with
special needs and their families.
