Even though we have over 14,000 full-time students, each program is intimate with plenty of individual attention from excellent instructors. Speaking of our teachers, our faculty is composed of working professionals who are still actively involved in their industries. They are celebrated chefs, Red Seal Qualified tradespeople, certified accountants, accomplished actors, and professional engineers to name just a few. The city is your classroom
George Brown College is built right into the city of Toronto, Canada’s largest city and perhaps the most diverse city in the world. It is the epi-centre of nearly every major industry in Canada and one of the most important economic hubs in North America. As such, the city becomes a living lab for our students.
We have two main campuses and several other downtown locations that place students right where the action is. Business students study just steps from Bay Street, the financial hub of the country. Nursing and healthcare students are minutes from Canada’s highest concentration of research and teaching hospitals. Arts and Design students learn amidst theatres, galleries, studios and agencies.
Practice by doing the actual job
Most programs have field placement components, which means that students have a valuable opportunity to work and learn in companies that may be their future place of employment.
Even our “classrooms” have been designed to simulate the real world. We have hospital labs with lifelike mannequins that speak and have vital signs. Our carpentry lab tools are construction-site ready and precise. We operate nine fully licensed childcare centres where early childhood education students learn from our youngest teachers. We even have an upscale restaurant, open to the public and fully staffed by our culinary students and hospitality students.
