First Aid Training
Courses in Standard and Emergency First Aid are designed to provide the basic knowledge and skills required to handle an emergency medical event
or an injury. Courses are offered three (3) times per year; Intersession week in October & February as well as the first week of May. Staff
of George Brown can access these courses through Staff Development. Training can be arranged on a case by case basis for student programs requiring
First Aid as a core component, contact Daniel Whitworth at St. James Campus First Aid office to arrange dates. (416) 415-5000 ext. 3499

Courses are also available from external training agencies such as St. John’s Ambulance, Red Cross, Royal Lifesaving Society. Check their
web-sites for locations and training providers in your neighbourhood.
First Aid and CPR Courses
Emergency First Aid & CPR Level A
This one day course covers the fundamentals
of first aid including emergency scene management, shock, choking, severe bleeding and cardiovascular emergencies. One person CPR for adults (Level
A) is taught as well as an introduction to the AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
This 2 day course encompasses the skills
taught in the Emergency First Aid Course adding elective sessions on topics such as medical conditions, wound care, bone and joint injuries, head & pelvic
injuries. One person CPR for adults, children and infants as well as two person CPR for adults, (Level C), is included. An introduction to the
AED (Automated External Defibrillator) completes the program.
Standard First Aid & CPR Level HCP
This 2 day course is specifically designed for Health Care Workers, Emergency
Care Professionals or Emergency Service Providers. It encompasses the skills taught in the Emergency First Aid Course adding elective sessions
on topics such as medical conditions, wound care, bone and joint injuries, head & pelvic injuries. Advanced CPR and Rescue Breathing skills
are taught for adults, children and infants. An introduction to the AED (Automated External Defibrillator) completes the program.
Note: These courses are independent. Emergency First Aid is not a prerequisite to Standard First Aid.
