Summer Institute on Early Childhood Development

Wednesday, June 1, 2011
Location:   OISE, 252 Bloor Street West, Toronto

The early learning policy changes in Ontario create new opportunities and new challenges. The move of child care to the Ministry of Education, Fully Day Early Learning - Kindergarten Programs emerging Best Start Child and Family Centres, and the College of Early Childhood Educators are changing the landscape for practitioners and programs. New early childhood degree programs are starting up. Teachers and early childhood educators are working in teams. The unionization of early childhood educators is expanding.

The 8th Summer Institute on Early Childhood Development will examine what the changes mean for professional practice and for relationships among families and professionals. Practitioners, colleges and universities faculty, professional associations and policy makers will come together to learn, converse, debate and reflect with each other.

This year, we are pleased to recognize the contributions of Dr. Fraser Mustard, one of the world's foremost experts on early childhood development, an accomplished physician and scientist and renowned co-author of the Early Years Study.
